Jonathan Has No Excuse As A President- Wole Soyinka On Abducted Girls

Wole Soyinka this evening was on CNN where he spoke to Amanpour Over the kidnapped of the Chibok school girls and here is part of what he said;

“This is a government which is not only in denial mentally, but in denial about certain obvious steps to take.”
“It’s one of those rather child-like situations that if you shut your eyes, if you don’t exhibit the tactile evidence of the missing humanity here, that somehow the problem will go away.”

It is not just “a Nigerian problem. I’m calling for the international community, the United Nations – this is a problem. This is a global problem.
And a foothold is being very deeply entrenched in West Africa.” Soyinka said.

When Amanpour asked Soyinka if he believes Jonathan is in denial, Soyinka said;

“It’s not only he. It’s the advisers around him. It’s a certain section of the nation, some of whom enjoy for various reasons a nation in a state of chaos. They profit by it, and in fact some of them are guilty of provoking the situation.”

“The person who has no excuse is the president of the nation.”

He also referred to Shekau’s video as a “charade” and “gleeful obscenity.”

Why I Couln't Attend Sunday's Meeting With Patience Jonathan- Borno’s First Lady

Borno Governor’s wife, Nana Shettima, in a statement released by her office yesterday has explained why she did not attend Sunday’s meeting with Patience Jonathan over the abducted school girls. According to the statement, Mrs Shettima was preparing to visit parents of the abducted school girls yesterday in Chibok to give them moral support and that was why she couldn't make it to the meeting but sent a representative down.

”The Governor’s wife has the highest respect for the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, and couldn’t have done anything to disrespect her.

”The First Lady and her confidants can bear testimony to how respectful and obedient the governor’s wife has been to her in the last three years and how she promptly attends to all events related to the First Lady however inconvenient.

”The Governor’s wife regards the First Lady as a mother given her age and position as mother of the nation,” part of the statement read.

Some of the parents have also been discovered to have health challenges when Mrs Shettima visited and she promised they will all be attended to.

Skull sells for N20,000-Human parts dealer

A 54year old grandmother Sukuratu Salami was yesterday May 5th paraded by the Lagos state police command alongside her accomplices, for her involvement in ritual killings and human parts sales.

In her confessional statement, Madam Sukuratu said she  sold human heads for N20,000 to willing buyers and that greed made her go into the business.
"A herbalist approached me last year and demanded for human parts. When he told me how much they buy the parts, I was tempted. I approached one Tantoloun, who works in a grave yard. He sold a skull for N10,000 and I sold it in return for N20,000. Greed made me to continue until I was arrested. I buy pieces of bones for N2,000, liver and intestines for N1,000 each and resell for N5,000 or more depending on the buyer’s bargaining power. I am not a killer. I have never killed anyone. I only request for decomposed human parts. I needed the money to feed my 3 children aged 30, 27 and 23. Those who patronize me are herbalists and trado-medical practitioners. The parts are used to prepare concoction for sick children. So far, I have only sold 10 human skulls.” she said.

Paraded with her was a cemetery worker, Rasheed Tantoloun  and two others who were arrested by men of the Lagos state Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Joju area of Sango Ota, in possession of  human head, intestines, bones, kidney and other human parts.

Rasheed in his statement said whenever his boss told him to dig up old gaves to make way for new burials, he would exhume this bodies and then sell them with the help of one Ibrahim whom he hired

"Anytime old corpses are exhumed, we usually collect the parts and sell to ready buyers who are usually agbo sellers (herbs dealers). My salary is N5,000 a month but since I started doing the business, I made three times more than the amount. We also dug corpses buried without caskets" he said

His accomplice, Ibrahim Waheed who says he is an Arabic teacher said he was paid N3,000 for exhuming dead bodies. In his statement, he said “we usually tamper with dead bodies buried without caskets and those whose relatives never showed up after burial. My job is to exhume and dismember the bodies and at the end of which I would be paid N3,000".

According to the state Police Commissioner, Umar Tanko, luck however ran out on them when men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS got wind of their illicit business and decided to pose as prospective buyers

"Detectives led by the SARS commander, Abba Kyari, posed as buyers and bought a human head from Salami at N120,000. After arresting the suspects, Salami’s house was searched during which a human head, liver, intestines and other parts were found. We picked interest in this case because of the disappearances of people. With their arrest, we hope that we’ll get to the root of these disappearances. We discovered that most of these bodies are fresh. It is criminal to deal in human parts. A few weeks back, Soka Forest was discovered in Ibadan. As you can see, this crime happens all over" he said.

Boko Haram Leader Boasts About Abducting Chibok School Girls

"I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah. There is a market for selling humans. Allah says I should sell. He commands me to sell. I will sell women. I sell women." alleged Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau said in a video (he spoke in Hausa) that was released today.

There were reports about a week ago that some of the girls have been sold or married off for N2,000 each. With this new declaration from Boko Haram, it means the report is close to the truth. If they haven't been sold already, then they will soon...unless the Commander-In-Chief of the Armes Forces does something and does it fast.

We Are Behind The 276 Abducted Girls & More Attacks Are Coming - Boko Haram Leader

The leader of Boko Haram Islamic sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau has just released a video claiming responsibility of forceful abduction of 276 female students from  Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State, Saharareporters.com reports.

Shekau in the video issued to select journalists stated,  'I am the one that abducted them", and more attacks will follow soon.

Meanwhile Sahara reporters are also claiming the first lady was the one who ordered the arrest of Naomi Nyadar, a prominent campaigner for the kidnapped girls. Find it below…

Nigeria’s first lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan has ordered the arrest and detention of one of the prominent campaigners for abducted Chibok girls.

Naomi Nyadar was arrested minutes after she returned home from a marathon meeting with the first lady and several wives of state governors at the Presidential Villa.

During the meeting, the first lady reportedly accused Nyadar of fabricating   the abduction story, accusing her of being an active member of Boko Haram.

Lawyers to Nyadar said she was first detained at the Asokoro police station with another woman from Chibok before being moved to an unknown destination after protesters began gathering at the police station to demand her release.

Yesterday Mrs. Jonathan dramatically broke down in tears on national television during a meeting with the principal of Government High School where the girls were abducted three weeks ago. During her widely televised “weeping”, Mrs. Jonathan seem to cast doubt on the abduction saga. She was hostile to the principal asking why she did not come to the presidential villa meeting with other teachers.

Also, last week, the women leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kema Chikwe, issued a statement at a  prayer session of the party widely questioning the abduction saga, she later retracted her statement claiming she was misunderstood following condemnation by the public.

Photos Of Nike Oshinowo's Twins... Speaks About Having Them At 48+ relationship with Dr Tunde Soleye

Nike Oshinowo in an exclusive chat with HELLO! Nigeria spoke about her twins and how her former marriage to Dr. Tunde Soleye packed up. She also revealed this would be the first time she would be talking to the press about her children, and does not think she would like to repeat it again. What she told them;

"This is the only interview I'm going to give about it because my children didn't choose to come into this world or choose to be famous that way. I'm the one who’s famous. My children are not famous. I'm hoping they’re going to be able to live very normal lives."

"I'm not supposed to be able to have children. I have endometriosis. I didn't decide it was time, God decided it was time."
About having children at 48

I think one thing you should know with me is that I’ll tell you the truth. If you dare to ask a question, I will answer. The answer might freak you out, but I will answer you as honestly as I can. It can happen to anyone, I'm not special.  I'm very close to my creator, and to be close to your creator, you don’t have to go to church or to any special pastor, you just form a one on one relationship with your God.

I was out of my marriage, and I was lying in bed, talking to my God “Okay, so, here I am, is this what you want for me? Please tell me the next step. What am I supposed to do now?” and I fell asleep. As I slept, I felt a tug on the bedding and I open my eyes...

I'm saying you have a choice to choose. I chose to have my children look like the rest of my family. I chose to have my children look like my cousins, the children of my sister, the children of my brother - all the same colour. I did what I needed to do to make that happen. My children bear Oshinowo. It’s a very good surname to have!

About her ex-husband

The attraction to Dr. Tunde Soleye was his mind. He had and still has amazing mind. I can’t really explain it, but I’m not a highly sexual person and I've never been able to be. If you are not, you have to be able to be attracted by other things and he has a phenomenal mind.

Don’t forget I wasn't 18 or 20 or even twenty-five at the time. I was forty! But I have to say I was very much in love. Was I…guided? More by my heart than my head. Isn't that nice to be sometimes? Am I embarrassed by that? No. Do I regret it? I don’t. I'm very grateful to have experienced it. It doesn't happen that often. Would I do it again? Probably not in such a hurry. It took 7 years for me to agree to date him. When I say I wouldn't do it again in a hurry, I meant I wouldn't rush into another marriage in a hurry because all the love in the world is still not enough to sustain a marriage. There are other key components.

Woman sells her son’s baby for N350,000 in Imo State

According to Sun News, Mrs. Tina Iwuji, a 52 year old mother from Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State has been arrested by the Imo state police command for allegedly selling the two weeks old baby of her son's girlfriend.

Mrs Iwuji son, Emeka had impregnated his Lagos girlfriend, Esther Godwin, a native of Ndoki, Delta State and then decided to send her to his mother without telling his mum that he owned the pregnancy and also instructed Esther not to open up to his mother that he was the who got her pregnant.

Mrs Iwuji accepted Emeka's request and allowed Esther move into her house in January 2014. Esther eventually gave birth, and just two weeks later, Mrs Iwuji sold the baby for N350,000 not knowing she was selling her own grand daughter Continue...

Mrs Iwuji told Sun "It was my son Emeka Iwuji who brought Esther as a friend not a wife from Lagos to my home in Mbaise, Imo State. I asked Esther who was responsible for her pregnancy and she said it was not my son. I asked her what was her mission and whether her mother was aware that she came to Mbaise but she said no. She came to the house on January 7, 2014" she said

Esther gave birth on April 11th to a baby girl at Hope Clinic and Maternity, Mbaise and on hearing that she had given birth, Emeka asked his mum to facilitate means of selling the baby and the proceed given to Esther for her to use to further her education.

Mrs Iwuji then began mounting pressure on Esther and not too long a nurse, Eunice Eze, who is in the baby sale syndicate came into the picture and she contacted another lady, Patricia Njoku who then identified a willing buyer, Mrs Benardine Abara who needed a girl to compliment her three sons.

Even with all the contacts made, Esther was still not game to sell her child. Seeing that the young lady would not give-in, Mrs Iwuji connived with her brother to take Esther somewhere where her child was forcefully taken away from her and handed to Eunice who then sold it to Mrs Abara for N350,000.

Distraught Esther then went to the Mbaise police station to report the case and all the parties except Emeka have been arrested. It was at the station that Mrs Iwuji got to know that the baby she had been bargaining to sell all along was her own grandchild.

A shocked Mrs Iwuji said" “It was when I was arrested with the other people that Esther confessed that my son Emeka was responsible for her pregnancy. I was shocked.”she said

Imo State Police Commissioner, Mr Abdulmajid says they would all soon be charged to court.

Barber Stabs Graduate To Death During Football Match

LATE SAHEED

When on Wednesday 29-year-old Saheed Badmus went to a viewing centre on Lamina Street, Egbe, Lagos State, to watch the UEFA Champions League semi-final match between Chelsea Football Club and Atletico Madrid, little did he know that was the last match he would ever watch.

Punch Metro learnt that the graduate of Ekiti State Polytechnic was stabbed to death by a barber identified only as Yemi, during an argument that broke out at the viewing centre.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene on Thursday, observed a large crowd on the street talking about the incident.

Saheed’s friends took our correspondent to a portion of the street where spinkles of Saheed’s blood could be seen.

They told PUNCH Metro that passions were high at the viewing centre as most of the Chelsea fans were desperate to see their team qualify.

It was learnt that during the match, Saheed stood up and Yemi shouted at him and told him to sit down as he was blocking him from viewing the match on the screen.

An elderly man was said to have cautioned Yemi against shouting, but Yemi insulted the elderly man.

A friend to the deceased, Muyideen Waheed, told our correspondent that an argument then ensued between the barber and Saheed.

He said, “Yemi was shouting and one elderly man told him to keep quiet, but he shouted the man down. Saheed then cautioned against shouting at an elderly man. Yemi attacked him.

“The owner of the centre pushed both Yemi and Saheed out of the place and locked them out.”

It was learnt that once they got outside, Yemi picked up a bottle from a nearby pub and stabbed Saheed.

It was learnt that as Saheed ran for his life, Yemi chased him and then stabbed him in the face.

Waheed told PUNCH Metro that when some of the viewers came out, they saw the deceased’s lying in a pool of blood.

He said they rushed him to two hospitals, but he was rejected.

He said, “There was power failure and everywhere was dark. Most of us were inside the viewing centre, so we did not hear Saheed scream. When we came out, we saw him lying in a pool of blood. We rushed him to Obeeh Hospital, but he was rejected. We then took him to Bisalam Hospital, but he was referred to Igando General Hospital.

“On getting to Igando, he was pronounced dead.”

Residents described Yemi as a violent man who had on several occasions attacked youths in the area.

While lifting up his shirt, Waheed said, “You see this scar on my chest. It was a stab wound inflicted on me by Yemi.”

Our correspondent, who visited Saheed’s mother’s house, learnt that he was her youngest son.

The mother, Isiwatu, while weeping profusely, said she was pained that she did not live to reap the fruit of her labour.

“My son was a gentle man. We lived together and he was responsible. I still saw him on Wednesday before he went to watch the match. I struggled to send him to school and now, all is wasted. He had no wife and child.

“Yemi has stolen my joy and I want him arrested and sentenced to death for his crime. This was not a case of two people fighting. It was  an outright murder.”

It was learnt that after killing the deceased, Yemi fled to his father’s home, but his father alerted the police and he was arrested by policemen from the Ikotun Police Division.

When our correspondent visited the police station, Yemi was seen writing his statement.

Yemi’s father, who refused to identify himself, described his son as a troublemaker and wondered where he got the behaviour from.

He said, “I hardly see my son. Sometimes, I don’t see him for as long as three months. He just came to my house last night (Wednesday), crying. He told me that he had stabbed someone at a viewing centre.

“I reported him to the police. I don’t know why he went to watch the match in the first place. What kind of trouble is all this?

How we jumped out of Boko Haram truck' - girls who escaped speak

Punch interviews two of the girls who jumped out of the truck they were being transported in by Boko Haram men after the men stormed their school and kidnapped over 250 girls. Interview below

What is your name?
Sawok: My name is Amina Sawok.
Walse: My name is Thabita Walse.

Can you describe the attack on your school?
Sawok: We were in the hostel. One of the men dressed in military camouflage asked us where our dining hall was. From our hostels, they took us to the dining hall and from there, we were moved into the waiting vehicles and they headed towards Damboa town. The incident happened around 11pm.
Walse: It is a long story. They came to our school and deceived us into believing they were soldiers. They were dressed in military uniform and made us believe they were about rescuing us only for us to later find out that they were insurgents. When we discovered, it was already too late and there was little we could do. Continue...

At what point did you know they were not real soldiers but insurgents?
Sawok: They were shouting and rude. That was when it became clear to us that they were insurgents, then they started shooting and set our school on fire. They even shot the security men guarding the school.
How did you escape?
Sawok: I jumped out of the vehicle that looked like a truck.
Walse: Our vehicle developed a problem and they were forced to stop. I took the opportunity with some girls to run into a dark bush.

What gave you the courage to jump out of the vehicle?
Sawok: I have heard a lot about Boko Haram, the bad things they do and how they have killed many people in the state. I was afraid and I became desperate. I felt getting to their camp could be dangerous for me and it would be better if I escaped.  That gave me the courage to jump out.  I believed that I would only get injured since it was dark and they may not know how to look for me in the bush.

Did all the girls that escaped plan it?
Sawok: No, I believe the same thing was running through our minds. Immediately one of us jumped out, the rest of us just started following her.
Do you have any injury?
Sawok: No, I am very fine.

How do you feel about the others that were not able to escape?
Sawok: I would have loved all of us to escape.  I can’t celebrate my escape because some of my friends and classmates are still in the hands of the insurgents and I don’t know what they are facing. It is my prayer that they should be freed.
Walse: I have no problem, I am okay and very strong physically. The only problem I have is that some of my friends are still held hostage by terrorists.

OYO STATE DEPUTY TO AJIMOBI-WHAT KIND OF STUPID GOVERNOR ARE YOU?

Deputy to Ajimobi: “What kind of stupid governor are you?”
Ajimobi to Deputy: “You are threatening me in my office.”
“This is a public office and we’ll leave here someday,” Dep. replies
FROM SESAN OLUFOWOBI

An action movie was shot in the office of the governor of Oyo State, on Tuesday, as Governor Abiola Ajimobi and his deputy, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, nearly physically attacked each other.
It took the intervention of the security personnel attached to the two public figures to prevent a mortal combat provoked by Governor Ajimobi.

Before the near fisticuffs was halted by the security officials, there were hot exchanges between the governor and his fiercely loyal but worthlessly treated deputy who is from Oke Ogun Area of the state.
The dirty linen of the governor’s unsavory amorous deals and enrichment was washed publicly in the office while the skirmish lasted.

Reason they brawl

The brawl was fallout of the congress of the APC held in the state recently and shunned by almost all the National Assembly members of the party from the state.
The Deputy Governor’s mother is from Saki East Local Government where he built his house and where he retires each time he leaves Ibadan. His father is from either Atisbo or Oorelope Local Government. So, he is naturally the leader in those councils.

But rather than empower his deputy, Ajimobi subordinated him to one Mrs Hannah Olawunmi Ogunesan, a junior civil servant, who was promoted to the rank of a top shot in the service by Ajimobi, on account of his amorous relationship with the woman.

The severally humiliated deputy was forced to sit down with Ogunesan’s group to reach a consensus on the list of party officers in the two council areas and the agreement was struck in an atmosphere of peace.
But with the support of her concubine, Ogunesan removed all the nominees of the Deputy Governor from the consensus lists and the action was sheepishly and swiftly endorsed by Governor Ajimobi.
OUR SOURCE was reliably exclusively informed that an embittered Alake Adeyemo went into the congress humiliated but yet demonstrated a high sense of maturity.

But unable to stomach the indignation meted on him by Ajimobi from the comfort of Delilah’s laps, the Deputy Governor had to open up to the committee set up to address complaints arising from the congress and alleged foul play in his council areas.

Irked that the Deputy had the guts to complain, Ogunesan had to go to Governor Ajimobi to make a report.
As usual, the governor summoned his Deputy to his office with his Delilah and others seated. Sensing that the discussion might erupt into a volcano, Governor Ajimobi asked all but his deputy to remain.
The hot and loud conversation between them, exclusively got by OUR SOURCE, went thus: Ajimobi: Do you realize you don’t have any power in this office?

Deputy: I have every right as you do. The Constitution recognizes me as the deputy governor. You are nobody without me because we were both elected on a joint ticket.
Ajimobi: So, you are threatening me in my office?
Deputy: This is not your office; it is a public office and we will leave someday.
Ajimobi: Get out of my office
Deputy (rose on his feet): I am not going anywhere. What kind of stupid governor are you? You think I don’t know what is going on between you and that woman (Ogunesan)? You have desecrated the office of the governor by sleeping with all sorts of women. I have been very loyal to you despite your ill treatment towards me. What else do you want? How else do you want me to please you? I can even resign right now. What am I getting from being your deputy apart from insult?

When the security officials rushed into the Governor’s office, the two public figures were seen almost at each other’s jugular and were quickly separated by the security personnel.
An eye witness confided in OUR SOURCE that the deputy governor, whose son gets married today (Friday) and Saturday, left Ajimobi’s office, pregnant with fury, and banged the door.
On getting to his office, he wrote his resignation letter, a copy of which OUR SOURCE made several unsuccessful attempts to get. It took the intervention of top government functionaries to prevail on Chief Adeyemo from submitting the letter.

Having realized he goofed, Governor Ajimobi left his office and went to his deputy’s saying, “You are not known to get angry” and apologized to him.

He also ordered the caretaker chairman of Saki East Local Government to ensure that he further placates his deputy governor and ensure he is happy through the during of his son’s wedding.
OUR SOURCE was informed, that the travel of First Lady, Florence Ajimobi, on Thursday to Ogbomosho, venue of the Deputy Governor’s wedding, where she intends to sleep throughout the weekend.

It will be recalled that last year when one of the children of the deputy got married in Ibadan, Mrs Ajimobi never attended the event but stayed in the Government House, though her husband did attend.
