Woman faces Jail time after falsely implicating two innocent men on rape charges

22 year old woman Comfort Yinusa (pictured above) is now facing jail time after falsely claiming two men raped her. Yinusa contacted emergency operators saying she'd been attacked outside a bar in London by two men and claimed they forced themselves on her.

The men were immediately arrested and they spent six weeks on police bail. About £3,000 was also spent on the forensic investigation to verify the report.
Fortunately for the men, it's since been confirmed that the attack never took place. Installed CCTV installed showed them all at a McDonald laughing and joking together while mobile phone records (as should happen in any sane Country) proved one of alleged rapist was looking for his car at the time of the alleged attack.

When caught in her lie, she initially denied lying to police but changed her plea before she was due to go on trial. She will be charged accordingly with the very possibility of her facing jail time.

Fayose’s Thugs Beat PUNCH Reporter To Stupor In Ekiti

A Punch correspondent in Ekiti State while going about his job yesterday was descended upon by the governor’s thugs who were keeping watch on the house of assembly complex, to prevent APC lawmakers from coming in to impeach the Governor.  Kamarudeen Ogundele said his of fence was taking photographs of women praying for peace in the State at about 200metres away. They descended on me, tore my dress and even the police couldn’t save me at first, he explained. According to Punch Newspaper, the Governor has however apologized for the of fence of his thugs. Below is how Kamarudeen explained what happened to him.

“I was about leaving the place when I saw the women praying for peace to reign in the state. I felt it was a spiritual approach to the trouble in the state, so I decided to take the picture. The thugs emerged from their hideouts and swooped on me.

“I kept shouting ‘I’m a journalist’ but they did not show me mercy as they pounced on me. They were like 50 persons kicking me all at the same time. They dragged me out of the car and continued hitting me. At a time, one of them went to carry a big plank of wood in an attempt to hit my head.

“Two policemen raced to the scene to intervene but they were overwhelmed by the mob. One of the policemen started shouting, ‘run, run, run, don’t let them kill you!’ I thought the end had come because they continued beating me. Luckily for me, a few among them felt they had beaten me enough and started fighting their colleagues to let me go. I capitalized on their disagreement and with the help of the police, I quickly escaped.”

The governor later called one of the leaders of the Nigerian Union of Journalist in the state to apologise for his supporters’ action. He also expressed regret over the mob action, Punch said.

Senate Passes Sexual Offences Bill, Rapists Get Life Imprisonment

The Senate on Wednesday passed the Sexual Offences Bill, 2015 which prescribes life imprisonment for rapists and those who have sexual intercourse with children under 11 years.

The passage of the bill followed the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Chaired by Sen. Umaru Dahiru (APC Sokoto-South).

Presenting the report, Dahiru said the passage of the bill would give legal backing for the prosecution of sexual offenders.

He said if approved, rapists and those who sexually abuse children would bag life imprisonment while other sexual offenders would also be sentenced to serve various prison terms.

The President of the Senate, Sen. David Mark, expressed delight on the efforts of the committee to evolve a stronger law against sexual violations,

“I want to particularly thank and congratulate Sen. Chris Anyanwu, the sponsor of the Bill for the passage for initiating the process of this amendment,” Mark said.

Speaking to newsmen after plenary, Anyanwu (APGA Imo East) said the passage of the bill was a parting gift from her to the public.

“It is indeed a fulfilment of my mission in the Upper Chamber,” she said.

She listed some of the sexual offences captured by the bill to include gang rape, lacing drinks with drugs with intent to sexually abuse, deliberately infecting partner with HIV and other diseases.

Others, according to her, include child sex tourism, sexual harassment and prostitution of persons with mental disabilities.

She said the bill had mandated the storing of names of sexual offenders in database for institutional and social discrimination.

Mercy Aigbe who is on the latest cover of motherhood magazine with her kids, has said she started talking to her 14-year old daughter more seriously when she returned from school one day to tell her someone got expelled for giving a boy a blow job. When she asked if she actually knows the meaning, her daughter laughed and said, you don’t expect me not to!

“There was a day she came back from school and was like ‘Mummy somebody got expelled in my class for giving someone blowjob’ and I just exclaimed ‘Blow what? You know what that is?’ She just laughed and said ‘Mummy, you don’t expect me not to know that.’ You know, that opened another room to educate her. As often as possible I have to talk to her about boys. Teens need sex education. She is growing up so fast, so I need to tell her all she needs and wants to know so she doesn’t get it all mixed up,” she explained.

Robbers who rob boutiques so they can dress & look like Big boys'

4-man squad of armed robbers who are specialist in stealing from boutiquess all in a bid to look like 'Big Boys' have been arrested in Lagos.

The gang members, Ozioma Ike, 20, Kenechukwu Anierobi, 23, the gang leader, Obi Gaza and Ugo Nnakue, 26 who are all apprentice at Lagos auto parts market, were apprehended recently in Lagos after Ozioma was arrested on May 18th  in Mushin with a bag containing many cell phones.

On interrogation, Ozioma confessed to belonging to a gang of armed robbers. He was taken to the Mushin police station from where he was transferred to the State Anti Roberry Squad Ikeja, where he led the police to where the others were.

Ozioma's confession

“I sent Kenechukwu to follow Obi and the other one to break a shop at Mushin and one boutique on Nkenu Street in Ajao Estate. They went with one rod and two iron cutters. I sent them two times. I shared their loot with my roommate. I chose my size of jeans and shoes and started wearing them. I received four phones while my roommate got about five. We break shops to get expensive shoes, clothes which ordinarily we could not afford. But it was just to show off as big boy traders in Ladipo market and its environs.

In our second operation, I got 12 jeans trousers, two wrist watches and 13 assorted shirts which I kept for personal use because I did not loot to sell. We succeeded in the third operation but one of us, Kenechukwu, was arrested by police. When police arrested him, we ran away but he later brought SARS operatives to arrest us despite the oath we took not to betray any member in a situation like that. For three years, as an apprentice, my master (who is even my brother) refused to settle me. He even found it difficult to give me pocket money to be like my peers; that was why I joined the gang to get fine clothes to wear like my mates.

We shared our loot in our sponsor’s house. In the first operation, I got 15 jeans trousers and 10 tops (shirts), while in the second, I got 21 jeans trousers and 13 tops. I used my bag to pack some of the loot. We hanged somewhere till 4 am before we started working towards a bus stop. We steal to show off as big boy traders in Mushin,” he said

Another member of the gang, Kenechukwu said

“I hustle in Ladipo market. usually charged N1, 000 for carrying an engine. I joined them to break shop in Mushin where we got 35 phones. We used cutter, chisel and wheel spanner to break shops.”

Police says they will soon be charged to court.

You Are Warned To Shut up on National Assembly Budget David Mark Warns Ben Bruce

ben-mark
Former Senate President, David Mark, has warned Ben Bruce, the senator-elect for Bayelsa east senatorial district over his unguarded statements on issues relating to National Assembly.

The business mogul has been in the news lately after he took to his social media platform to accuse Nigerian lawmakers of enriching themselves at the expense of Nigerians.

“There is a freedom of information law in Nigeria. Nigerians have a right to know everything about the national assembly’s finances. I will push for openness,” he wrote on his Twitter account earlier in May.

“I would sponsor a bill that would seek to reduce the cost of running the government immediately after the inauguration of the 8th national assembly.

I will publish names of any of my colleagues who vote against it. We will deal with them.

“I am fighting corrupt elite. When they drink a bottle of champagne that can educate a child, they should know Ben Bruce will fight them.”

However, speaking on Monday during a retreat of lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers state, Mark said details of the finances of National Assembly was available to the public.

“Every time you hear people talking about the national assembly budget, for heaven’s sake, the national assembly budget is in the open,” he said.

“Unless you would say you have never seen the national budget, it is a public document. The national assembly budget is there with every other budget.

“Our budget is open, what we earn is open, if anybody wants to receive his salary and donate it, he can donate it; he doesn’t need to consult us.”

“We were the first to make a cut in 2015 budget and people should appreciate what we are doing, not to come and give an impression that our budget is bloated. Has every other person made a cut?
 No,” he said.

“We have tightened our belt more than any other ministry today and I stand to be corrected. I can put my hand on my chest without fear of contradiction and say that we make a lot of sacrifice in our budgeting system. “And then we shouldn’t play politics with what is a very serious thing.”

“The civil service will be strengthened and made to respond to the needs of all citizens in the same manner quality services are rendered in the private sector. Pres. Buhari writes Senate, asks for approval to appoint 15 advisers

President Buhari has written a letter to the Senate asking for their approval to appoint 15 advisers that will serve in his government. His letter was read by Senate President David Mark at the Senate plenary session this morning.

Outcome of President Buhari's Meeting With Service Chiefs

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, shortly after meeting with the President today with other service chiefs have said they will have to go and begin the relocation of the Command Centre against Boko Haram to Maiduguri, Borno State, as directed by President in his inaugural speech on Friday.

“On the relocation of the command center, we are the ones to go back and work on it. Soon, it will be carried out, it is a Presidential directive, it must be carried out, and we must do that as quickly as possible,” he told the journalists, who asked about the details of the meeting.

Fayose Writes Buhari, I Have A Minister For You

The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to grant him the privilege to nominate a candidate to fill the slot of the state in the Federal Executive Council.

Mr. Fayose, who made the request in a letter to the President dated May 31, 2015, said if the request was granted by the President, he would send a worthy and competent Ekiti professional for appointment in the federal executive council.

He said, “Should the request be favourably disposed to, I shall be happy to nominate a worthy and competent professional who can always oblige your excellency and your cabinet the benefit of a second opinion in the serious business of governance.”

He noted that he wrote the letter based on the declaration made by the President that he would put the overall interest of the country above political partisanship and biases.

The governor also hinted that his letter was on the strength of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria section 147 sub (2) and (3) which states that, “Any appointment to the office of the Minister of the government of the Federation shall if the nomination of any such person to such office is confirmed by the Senate, be made by the President.

“Any appointment under sub- section (2) of this section by the President shall be in conformity with the provision of section 15 (3) of this constitution provided that in giving effect to the provision aforesaid, the President shall appoint at least one minister from each state who shall be indigene of such state.”

Mr. Fayose argued that since Ekiti is a Peoples Democratic Party state where the state governor, the National Assembly and the state assembly members are PDP, it was expedient that he be accorded the honour of naming the minister that would come from the state.

He noted that this would not be new, saying that late Bola Ige, who was the leader of the Alliance for Democracy and the party’s National Chairman, Ahmed Abdukadri, were made minister and special adviser respectively by the PDP government of Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 and 2007.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the development.

NDLEA Formally Serves Kashamu Extradition Notice

The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has served Prince Buruji Kashamu, the senator-elect from Ogun State a notice of application for extradition to the United States.

In an application made to the Chief Judge, Federal High Court, Abuja in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/479/2015, the office of the Attorney General of the Federation is seeking the extradition of Buruji Kashamu to answer alleged drug trafficking charges.

This is in line with the Extradition Act CAP, E25 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 (as modified by Extradition Act Modification Order, 2014).

The notice of the suit was officially served on Kashamu by the NDLEA on 1st of June 2015, according to the spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju.

The agency had attempted to arrest Buruji in his Lagos home on 23 May, but after laying siege on the house for several days, a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the agency to lift the siege.

NDLEA’s fresh move has elicited the commendation of the House of Representatives Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes.

In a letter to the NDLEA, the committee’s chairman, Jagaba Adams Jagaba states that the Agency’s action will go a long way in building the confidence of the international community in our country.

Jagaba while commending the gallantry of officers and men of the anti-narcotic agency observed that the action of the NDLEA has sent a strong signal that Nigeria believes in the rule of law.

“This action has sounded a warning that no longer shall any Nigerian be considered to be above the law, no matter how highly placed. It equally points to the fact that no matter how long it takes, the law would catch up with all that has a case to answer. The Agency has shown that it can work without discrimination” he stated.

The letter further enjoined the Agency not to succumb to blackmail. “Let me at this juncture, therefore, encourage you not to falter in the face of blackmail. Your detractors will engage in all forms of antics including blackmail to distract you but you must never be deterred.

Instead, with every form of distraction, you should be spurred to maintain the dignity of the Agency and do the needful in the interest of
Nigerians and humanity” Jagaba added

We lack power for now to display Buhari, Osinbajo’s assets - CCB

For those asking the new president and his deputy to publicly declare their asset, they will have to wait a bit longer as the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, which keeps custody of the assets declared by the two leaders, says it lacks the power to make them public for now.

Chairman of the CCB, Mr. Sam Sada, who spoke exclusively to Vanguard through his Special Assistant, Mr. Gwimi Sebastian Peter, said only the National Assembly is vested with the powers to decide the terms and conditions under which such documents could be made public.

The chairman said even though the Constitution of Nigerian made it clear that the agency should make available to the citizens the assets declared by public officials, the same law vested the National Assembly with the power to decide the terms and conditions for making such materials public.

Sada explained that the CCB was ready to comply with the terms and conditions specified by the National Assembly on the matter but would only do so once the law was amended. He said:

“While the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) and the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act give the bureau powers to receive assets declarations, verify, examine, keep in custody and enforce compliance when there is a breach, the responsibility of determining how and on what terms asset declarations will be made accessible to the public was left to the National Assembly. “Several National Assemblies have come and gone since the establishment of the CCB without addressing the matter.”

Police Finds Illegal Gun In Fashanu’s Home

The Nigerian police on Saturday raided the house of former Wimbledon and England striker, John Fashanu where an illegal gun was found and five other questionable international passports. Fashanu after the raid was taken to the Police Station to answer questions. He was interrogated for 6 hours, before he was finally released, but not after the police detained his 2014 edition black land cruiser jeep as surety. Fashanu is to return there this morning, but he has been accusing his estranged wife, Abigail, mother of Adaeze Yobo of being behind the raid asking her to move on

John Fashanu has been questioned by police after they found an unlicensed weapon in his house during a police raid.

Twenty officers stormed the soccer star’s 20-room mansion in Abuja, Nigeria, with a search warrant on Saturday.

They seized the gun, believed to be capable of firing up to 30 rounds, as well as “five passports” before taking him to the city’s central station to be questioned.

It is understood the former Wimbledon and England striker made a statement before being released from custody after nearly six hours.

He is now due to return there by Monday.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mirror, Fashanu, 52, said: “I was not arrested - I went to the police station voluntarily.

“I’ll go back tomorrow morning to the police station. I expect to pay a fine.

“It was an old fashioned firearm. I don’t actually know what model it is - it’s like a stub gun.”

Fashanu, who is preparing to fight a bitter divorce case against his estranged wife Abigail at Nigeria’s High Court, claimed she called in cops in revenge for him ending their marriage.
He added: “She is trying to do anything to get back at me. They raided my house after she filed a petition with the police. She needs to move on.

“The gun should have been licensed. I made a mistake and I hold my hands up to that.

“I have the five passports because they belong to young footballers from my academy. It’s no problem.”

Police agreed to release Fashanu after detaining his 2014 edition black land cruiser jeep as surety.

It is understood police raided Fashanu's home after his estranged wife Abigail filed a statement accusing him of having an illegal firearm and a number of young footballers from his academy also filed complaints accusing him of stealing their money.
