Late MKO Abiola's wife Dr Doyin Abiola reportedly arrested for fraud

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, one of late MKO Abiola's wife, and former MD of the defunct Concord Newspapers, Dr. Doyin Abiola has been arraigned before the Federal High Court, Lagos, for fraud.
A statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu said that the Financial Malpractices Investigation Unit (FMIU) of Special Fraud Unit (SFU) said that between 2006 and 2008, as a Director of the Integrated Microfinance Bank, Dr. Abiola granted to herself without collateral and approval from the Management, the sum of N26,611,246.48.
Dr. Abiola, of 42/46 Moshood Abiola Crescent, Ikeja, Lagos, and wife of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, is one of four Managing Directors or Directors of Integrated Microfinance Bank (IMFB) located at 6A Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, who were arrested and charged by the SFU.
The others are Akinteye Simon Ademola, Dr. Jerry Orimovuohoma and Oladapo Bello.
The SFU said the four officials of IMFB unauthorized credit facilities to the tune of N327,566,000 to themselves and other related companies without collateral and that the loans are still outstanding.  In the forensic investigation conducted by FMIU of SFU, the Directors were found wanting in the discharge of their duties while on the Board of Integrated Microfinance Bank (IMFB).

· Ademola of Plot 7, block 90, Mobolaji Ogunde Crescent, Magodo GRA Phase 2, Lagos converted the sum of N131.176 million to his personal use without approval.

· Orimovuohoma of 129B Oba Ladejobi Street, GRA, Ikeja granted unauthorized credit facility to the tune of N29,200,000.00 to himself without collateral.
· Bello of 23/25 Ijora Causeway, Ijora, Lagos recklessly granted the sum of N3,200,000.00 to himself without collateral.
“The bank liquidity was greatly affected with the sum the directors took,” the statement said.    The case comes up at the Federal High Court on December 10.

Asari Dokubo arrested in Benin Republic

Just got a press release from lawyer Festus Keyamo explaining that his friend and client, ex-militant Asari Dokubo was arrested in Benin Republic today. Read the press release below...
Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, my friend and client, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, around the hours of 1:00pm and 2:00pm by the country’s gendarmes (Police Force).
He was picked up around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to an unknown destination. We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now. In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as at this evening and nothing incriminating was found.
We think his arrest and detention is a ploy by certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government to keep him away as 2015 approaches.

We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, we shall be liaising immediately with our colleagues in that country to enforce his fundamental rights.

HOW REP MEMBER,RAPHAEL OLOYE NOMIYE DIED + WHY BANKER FRIEND WAS ARRESTED

It has been a sad time for the family of Rep member, Raphael Oloye Nomiye who just passed on. Raphael, a member of the House of Representatives from Ondo State died on Friday after what security sources said was a sexual affair with a female banker in his private residence located at Gwarinpa Estate in Abuja.

The security men in his house said the female banker who came to visit him rushed down from the main building to inform them that he just fell and was bleeding from his mouth. He was later rushed to a private hospital where they rejected him, that it was a serious matter before rushing him to the National Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The female banker was arrested and denied ever having sex with the lawmaker. But when doctors carried out series of tests on him, they confirmed he had sex shortly before his death. The banker later changed her statement by confessing to the police that she indeed had sex with him and after cleaning him up, he went to the bathroom where he fell and started bleeding from the mouth.

A search was later conducted in his home and items found where bottled water which the lawmaker drank from, tissue paper and the clothes he wore before his death.

Until his death, the lawmaker was 50, whose wife and children lived abroad

Gov Fashola wants Nigerian Stock exchange renamed after Lagos

While speaking with journalists at the 10th Lagos Executive/Legislative parley, Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola demanded a review of the decree which changed the Lagos Stock Exchange to Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1977, noting that across the world, stock exchanges are named after their host cities and not the country. He asked that a similar trend should be followed in Nigeria.

Governor Fashola said; 

“I think the time has come for us to begin to look at the legislation that was passed during the military administration that is decrees and acts. I think that was when the Lagos Stock Exchange became the Nigerian Stock Exchange, in unification for the country. Perhaps there is the need for us to go back to what is best global practice because we have the Johannesburg, Paris, New York and we don’t have the American Stock Exchange or German Stock Exchange while there is a Frankfurt Stock Exchange and so on. There is nothing like the British Stock Exchange, but the London Stock Exchange” he adds

I did say I didn’t have twins then because I believe it was personal. If I have N1m, I think it is only my account’s officer that should know how much I have. In fact, he wouldn’t even have the right to check my account unless I ask him to do that. He couldn’t just cull up my account details and start checking how much I have. This is not a car we are talking about, these are human beings.


When they grow up, I will tell them the reason I did that. It was the same way my father gave me his own reasons. I didn’t know him until I was 22. I got to know my mother when I was 18. They gave me their reasons for doing what they did. I asked my father where he was all the time I was growing up and he told me where and how and when he was a part of my life. If my kids grow up to ask me why I did what I did, I would certainly explain to them.  I didn’t say I didn’t have kids just because I wanted to lie, No. I had my reasons. I had my life to live.

Iyanya was bounced at Davido’s 21st birthday party which held at Pavada Lounge Thursday night. Witnesses said, most people who weren't invited where not allowed to get in, and if you must, you must call one of the HKN group members, who will come out and take you in. Most people who felt they should be in, called Kamal, a member of Davido’s group who was always in and out taking guests in. But when Iyanya got to the entrance, the bouncers said he couldn’t get it. People around told them it was Iyanya, but the bouncers still refused and said if he must get in, he should call Davido or Kamal. Iyanya tried making a call, but no one picked, he got angry nodding his head as he left. A lot of people didn't understand what was going on and it soon became a hot topic among guests at the party. Now, this is an inside gist and it’s so true.
