Hundreds of supporters and Councilmen took to the streets on Thursday to address their displeasure over the plan to dissolve the leadership. Demonstrators carried placards and chanted songs while marching in a procession.
Samuel Eyiba, the Chairman of Ahoda west LGA, told SaharaReporters that "Any attempt to dissolve elected Chairmen and Councilors of 23 LGA in Rivers State, [will be resisted by] the good people of Rivers State."
Also Celestine Akpo Bari, Chairman of Khana LGA, said "we would not allow any attempt to truncate democracy and subvert the will of the people.”
